- Arrange for appropriate feedback on the performance of the students in the course. It should be clear to the students if their assignments and tests were correct or not and why.
- The teacher can give feedback F2F in the classroom or through the VLE.
- Give short tests or assignments distributed over time. Spaced testing/ learning can be very effective. Use a variety of activities (see 3-Star learning experiences, 2022). A crucial aspect of spaced learning is the repetition of concepts. Repetition helps to memorize and improve long-term learning and recall.
- Discuss the results of self-study and tests in the classroom and, if necessary, give additional explanations.
- Offer students assignments in which they must give feedback to each other (peer feedback- DP6:047). Use Rubrics as evaluation criteria.
- Combine test results with the necessary extra assignment(s).
- Ask students to develop their test questions to demonstrate their understanding. Some of these questions could be used for future test opportunities.
- Keep an actual overview of the student’s study results in the VLE. You (perhaps using the VLE) can give students feedback about their progress.
- Check plagiarism with special software.
- Give the students the option to do self-tests with the same difficulty level and format as the final test.
- Follow students’ progress with a portfolio.
