A course description can be presented in hard copy or the VLE. This will make the course transparent for students, teachers and the accreditation committee.
Elements of a course description are:
- Introduction (with an organiser).
- Relationships with the other courses (learning tracks).
- Learning objectives and test criteria to demonstrate the effectiveness of the course materials (lectures, assignments, etc.)
- Necessary entry level.
- Name, Email, and room number of the teachers.
- Organisation of the course.
- Study credits. Teaching and learning activities.
- Schedule of study activities (F2F and self-study).
- Assessment (progress test and final test) Test criteria.
- Description of the main topics the students have to study.
- Study guidance.
- Course book, literature, websites and other learning materials, MOOCs, recordings of lectures, and short tutor videos (YouTube).
- (Self-)study assignments.
- Trial tests with answers.
- Annexes.
