Design of Evidence-Based Blended Learning in Higher Education

A course description can be presented in hard copy or the VLE. This will make the course transparent for students, teachers and the accreditation committee.
Elements of a course description are:

  1. Introduction (with an organiser).
  2. Relationships with the other courses (learning tracks).
  3. Learning objectives and test criteria to demonstrate the effectiveness of the course materials (lectures, assignments, etc.)
  4. Necessary entry level.
  5. Name, Email, and room number of the teachers.
  6. Organisation of the course.
  7. Study credits. Teaching and learning activities.
  8. Schedule of study activities (F2F and self-study).
  9. Assessment (progress test and final test) Test criteria.
  10. Description of the main topics the students have to study.
  11. Study guidance.
  12. Course book, literature, websites and other learning materials, MOOCs, recordings of lectures, and short tutor videos (YouTube).
  13. (Self-)study assignments.
  14. Trial tests with answers.
  15. Annexes.
